今天的中級文章裡出現了 hypothermia [體溫過低] 這個字 

這個字看起來很長很難,

但其實知道它的字根(root) 就不難了

hypo- 意謂著 under/beneath/less than normal (...之下/ 比正常少)

如: hypocenter n. 震源 (地底下震動的中心)

而 thermo 則表示 heat (熱)

thermos n. 保溫杯 (有一個品牌就叫 THERMOS)

thermometer n. 溫度計 (meter 為儀表)

thermal shirt n. 發熱衣 (thermo---> thermal 形容詞)
