3. persist 和 insist 的差別
Answer:
persist 和 insist 二字的中文都叫"堅持", 但意思有一點不相同
persist 的意思是: You continue to do somthing although others tell you not to do it or to give up. (你堅持做某事, 就算別人叫你別做或放棄)
例句: Peter persisted in going out although the weather was so bad.
雖然外面天氣很差, Peter 還是堅持要出門
所以 persist 的名詞 persistence 意思則是指某人的努力不懈/不放棄, 但persistence 太多則是指一個人的固執
例句: His persistence touched everyone. 他的努力不懈感動了所有人
insist 的意思: You say something is true/right although others might not think so (你堅決你是對的, 或你的主張是對的, 雖然別人不一定如此覺得)
例句: I insist that you should go out although the weather is bad.
雖然天氣很差,我仍堅持你應該要出門(我堅持我的主張是對的)
